Public Information Request

Public Information Requests (Open Records)

The Village of Soldiers Grove is committed to open and transparent government. Many village records are available to the public under Wisconsin’s Public Records Law.

Residents and members of the public may request access to public records maintained by the Village. Requests may be made in writing, by email, or in person.

To request public records, please provide as much detail as possible so we can locate the information efficiently. Helpful details may include:

  • The type of record requested

  • The date range

  • Names, addresses, or project locations (if applicable)

  • Whether you would like to inspect the records or receive copies

Requests may be submitted by:

What to Expect

The Village will respond to requests as soon as practicable. Depending on the scope of the request, staff may need additional time to locate, review, and prepare records.

Some records may contain confidential information and may require redaction as allowed by law.

Fees

Fees may apply for copying and for the actual, necessary, and direct cost of locating and reproducing records, as permitted under Wisconsin law. If fees are expected to be significant, we will notify you before fulfilling the request.
